Artist Sophie Theroux’s lesson plan for painting pumpkins teaches beginners how to block out subjects, how to blend and layer color, and how to create shadows, midtones, and highlights.
This tutorial will take novice painters about 2 hours to complete. Academy Acrylic colors needed for tutorial: Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cadmium Red Light, Titanium White, Raw Umber, and Burnt Sienna. Recommended supplies: HB Graphite Pencil, Goldenedge Filbert #8 & Round #2 brushes, Palette Knife, 9×12 Canvas, and a flat mixing palette or Borden & Riley disposable palette paper.
