Kelly McKernan is a fine artist and illustrator from Atlanta, Georgia, currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. Kelly obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kennesaw State University, with a concentration in drawing and painting. She has also studied under award-winning illustrator Dan Dos Santos.

Kelly’s current body of work examines the personal growth that results from internal struggle. Her ethereal women are often battling the opposing forces of natural inclination and cognitive reasoning, or they may be seen in their moment of resolution, finally understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and desires. The multi-layered settings in Kelly’s work reflect her own fascinations and discoveries as a woman with a penchant for idealism, on a journey toward self-awareness.

Kelly has been exhibiting her work with numerous galleries since 2009, including notable spaces such as Thinkspace Gallery, Gallery 1988, Spoke Art, and Gallery Nucleus. She also began her work as an illustrator in the same year and has illustrated three children’s book to date. Kelly is also a member of the PRISMA Artist Collective.

Kelly uses Miskit Frisket.
